Eoc Week 10: Robert Kearns

My thoughts on Robert Kearns are that he had given up so much to fight Ford for stealing his invention. After finding out that it took him 12 years to finally settle it, I think that takes great dedication but as if commenting suicide. To put up a battle with a powerful company is like facing a bull head on. I think that losing his family to protect his invention of the windshield wiper is a great sacrifice that many people would never do. To me he is not a hero but a man jumping off the edge of the world to prove a point.
I think that the movie is a fantasy of what they wanted Robert Kearns to be like in the end after he had won the case. Hearing that he was nothing like that and a real ass in reality I believe the stress of what had happen may have had a contribution to the way he started to act. Since the issue took years to finally come to a close, it can change someone for good. In the end I think Ford should have never stole Robert Kearns’ idea in the first place. Maybe his life would have been perfect with his wife and kids. He would be living happy and stress free. His family wouldn’t have to face the hardships with him obsessing about getting his invention to be proven that it was made by him. The car company had their own engineers working on the idea of the windshield wiper that would pause in between but I they figured they would steal a regular citizens idea instead. I think Ford thought Robert Kearns wouldn’t fight them and simple give up because he had no power. He was a nobody, until he started to take action against the company.

Week 9: First Amendment and the news

The first amendment does protect freedom of speech and the burning of Koran, many are saying is a type of speech. The event was to honor what happened on September 11 2001. I say it is not a right thing to do even though it is to celebrate 911. I believe that the aftermath of this event happening is that there may be an outrage that will cause people to get hurt. Religion is very powerful and can cause an uprising. It is hard to have to protect the actions of this individual but he does have every right to protest. My thoughts on it is that he should think about what can happen after if he goes through with this doing. Many people want him dead when he announced of what he was to do. It could cause chaos and lives put in danger. His outspoken type of speech won’t restore any peace for 911.
As for the news I think they sometimes over exaggerate stories. With the burning of Koran, it is very important to inform the people about what is to happen. They even had a discussant about president Obama’s thoughts about the event. The media can change stories to entertain the public. They may add in a little spice to make the story entertaining as well as change one fact. Once they get a hold of information, the news can do anything with it. It doesn’t matter if you’re the good guy or the bad and if you’re powerful, one false slip from the news can ruin a person’s reputation. Sometimes I think that certain people want to appear on the news to gain attention so that everyone around the country will know what they are doing or what they did. I think the news takes advantage of that.

EOC Week 8: Legal Questions

1. If I get caught hacking, what are the consequences.

2. If I sell my company and everything with it can I take my clients with me.

3. Someone stole my character and made slight changes can I sue?

4. My website name is used by another company can. They sue me even though its two different website concept?

5. If I choose to design a garment should I paten my design?

6. If I’m not featured in the credits of an animation can I take the company to court?

7. If I work with a celebrity in my ad campaign and I signed a confidentiality agreement but my employee says something could, I or my company be sued?

8. If I use an image that didn’t create do I need to have a contract with the owner?

9. If didn’t copyright a creation of mine and someone from my team takes it, can I take any action?

10. If my spouse pays to set up my business and I ran everything, if we get a divorce does he have a claim to it?

EOC Week 7: What legal issues concern you most?

Some legal issues that concern me the most are topics about designing and film. I don't want to copy someone else's art but these days it’s hard to create "new." I'm in an animation field and one of my concerns is if I developed my own character in an art piece, can someone else steal it if I post it on the web, Such as on a website called Deviantart.com. That website has some licensing but does my artwork only belong to the website once I’ve submitted it? Another concern of my regarding this website is that anyone can look at my art. I want to know what will happen if someone steals it from that website when I have a creative license on it from the website itself. Will I be able to take them to court and say they stole my artwork? I like the website a lot because I can view other artist from around the world as well as create my own profile for others to view but I have become cautious when I found out an artist piece was stolen by a game company. This incident happened a while back and I haven’t found out what the artist did. What also interest me is the designing contest that you can enter to win money and your design on the product. I’ve entered contest like that but I haven’t won yet. My concern is if I were to win, will I be able to ask for percentage? For every where my design goes I want to know if I will get paid for each time it is used. As for legal issues of my personal interest not relating to my career, I want to know what is the big talk about the pronunciation of the word Nevada. I think saying it either way is fine.

EOC Week 6: Illicit? What do you think?

I think the documentary is very interesting and quiet shocking to discover that a lot of things in our world can be a fake. I like how the film said that the bad guys can get rich right under our noses and even though they get caught, they can still continue the trafficking of fake goods. Before I didn't realize the harm of buying fake bags and jewelry can do to top of the line fashion companies. It is easier to lure a person into buying something of the same type for cheaper then buying it for the actual cost which is a much higher price. I have to admit that I am a person who would rather buy the cheaper bag then the real bag sold in the fancy stores. After watching this documentary I will be more aware of what I purchase. Today, everything deals with money and buying something for a little less can be nice. As for drugs it is very dangerous, I would never buy prescription drugs online. I rather go to a doctor and to the pharmacy where I know my drugs will be the actual product and not some lead paint mixed with chemicals of cleaning items. I didn’t know that such people will go that far to make money and use poison ingredients to be sold for medicine. It is as if they are a hitman, killing people without anyone knowing.
As for a visual part of the film, I started to get dizzy and sick as the jerky movements and shakiness of the camera was shown. In some parts I had to look away. I thought that the camera movements weren't the purpose to make people become sick but I thought it was another way to make the viewers feel then just see.

EOC Week three: Jeopardy

To come up with questions for a jeopardy game is very challenging. It takes some deep thought and process to think of ways for people to be able to understand the statements and answer them correctly. The game itself takes a lot of knowledge to know because the competitor will have to know the meaning and answer it as a question. I am carefully picking out the vocabulary words first, that I would like to use in my game. I’m trying to form them into categories while doing so. I say that grouping the words together is a bit difficult because not all the words will match up in the same group. I then am going to look at the definitions and come up with statements that someone will understand to be able choose the right word for. I don’t want to trick the person, so I won’t put part of the answer in the question. The statements I came up with for U.S Patent and Trademark office (USPTO) is, this company is responsible for overseeing and filing records of patents in the United States. I made this vocabulary word at $100 because I felt that it is easy to answer. Another statement I came up with for a $300 slot for Patent and Trademark depository libraries is, a public building where copies of patents and reference tools are available to research. I felt this one was a bit more difficult so I put it at a higher cost. I haven’t done the other categories yet but I will be developing them just like these. Since we are going to be in groups I don’t want to make it too hard for my teammates to answer so I will have to find ways to shorten long definitions into a short sentence.

EOC Week 2: What do you think of lawyers?

Although I haven’t met any lawyers as of yet, as of right now I have no thoughts on whether or not I may like them or not. Viewing them from television shows and movies I have an understanding that they are in it for the money and I sometimes wonder if they really do want to help their clients. Hearing from others who have had to deal with a lawyer, they say that some may not be that great. I also notice that to get a good lawyer you have to pay a huge amount of money. So now I ponder on the thought that the only way for a lawyer to truly help you win your case is that you have to pay them lots of greens. If the lawyer is well known and there is a 95% chance you’ll win the case then I can understand a bit at why he may cost so much. Although, I say that if the lawyer lowered his price then he can help many people out there in the world then just those with the big checks. I notice from the media that lawyers are hated, I don’t dislike them I just believe that if they are trying to defend someone who is truly guilty, they are doing their job and trying to help them even though they shouldn’t win. If I had to pin point my choice of a lawyer I wouldn’t want a lawyer who is in it for just the money, I would want them to take a chance too. I may not be able to afford a good lawyer but I would like them to try their best in winning the case. I wouldn’t want someone who will only work depending on the amount of pay they receive.

Week 1:EOC About Me

Every creation starts within an individual where a fresh new concept is waiting to break free into the world. Before an animation is started, a character has to be shaped and fitted with the right abilities in order for him or her to function the way an artist wants. In the process the character will be able to walk forward and gain experiences throughout their journey with the help of the developer. I am my own character and artist where I move my own two feet with each step I take. Creating my own animation with every motion I make. As a 3-D modeler and animator I would like to someday create my own characters in my career and make them live an incredible path where many others can view them in their own eyes. I want to make a contribution to the wonders of the digital animations like Pixar, DreamWorks, Sky Studio and etc, have already done. I am very amazed at how far animations have gone and I would love to be the next generation that keeps it going. Along side my learning of 3-D software I am a photographer. Capturing unique angles and beautiful colors of what people may have not seen before, is a passion I love to do. I like to look at my photos more than just a pictures
